Rotor and Vibration Damping
Acutec’s origins can be traced damping and rotor industry. We manufacture shims, inner and outer members, shimmy damper housings and mounts as well as pitch adjustment, blade bolts, and almost any other rotor component and sub-assembly. Acutec is familiar with the tight tolerances, surface finish and assembly requirements of these flight-critical parts. With paint, epoxy coating (bluecoat and scotchcast certified), thread rolling, chem-film, NDT and passivation in-house, Acutec exceeds all quality and lead-time expectations to worldwide customers for all major OEMs including Boeing, Bell, Eurocopter, Airbus, Sikorsky, AgustaWestland and Cessna.
Engine and Power Generation
Hot zone components have a challenge of tight tolerances using high-nickel alloys that can be difficult to machine. Acutec regularly overcomes these challenges with world-class expertise to machine Inconel, Hastalloy, Haynes, castings and bar form. In-house EDM and grinding allow us to take on complex geometries and strictly-held surface and dimension tolerances, and with our tube-bending, welding and brazing capabilities we can take on higher-level subassemblies. Whether for land-based gas turbine engines or the latest aircraft engine systems, our fuel swirlers, nozzles, housings, shrouds, and supports backed by statistically-capable proven processes will put your mind at ease.
Hydraulics, Avionics, and Actuation Systems
Our 5-axis cells specialize in manifold machining using our lights-out plus system to machine the most complex components in the world in any aerospace material at both low cost and high value. With in-house lee plug, helicoil, and valve installation, as well at spot face and NADCAP alodine application, we can supply you with a ready-to-install manifold. Our 3D-printed fixtures, precision microscope deburr lab, and SPC-driven process capability ensure 100% FOD-free quality.
Landing Gear and Braking Systems
Acutec’s expertise in braking systems and landing gear will allow you to completely outsource your manufacturing. We manage the assembly and BOM of braking pistons and torque tubes and manufacture a wide variety of brake housings, sleeves, pistons, discs, covers, and plates. In-house paint, grind, NDT, and assembly allows you to purchase a more complete product to your specifications with our team of experienced engineers, machinists and product line experts offering new design and development support for simplified manufacturing.
Rod End Center
Named a Rod End Center of Excellence in 2002 by Smiths Aerospace, Acutec is a global leader in rod ends, shipping over 180 different types to customers all over the world. In-house Dry Film Lube (NADCAP), roll threading, beryllium copper bushing manufacture, assembly, and our Integrex rod end cellular manufacture with 3D-printed fixturing make us cost-competitive with 100% quality on the tightest dimensions by utilizing our CNC grinding technology.
Acutec is established as a premier long and short run part milling facility in northwestern Pennsylvania and the world.
All Acutec milling centers are equipped with Renishaw touch probes. We can machine in four- and five-axis and machine parts from .250 inches diameter to 20 inches diameter. Our horizontal machining centers have automatic pallet changers.
Tools are gaged and set with Speroni Optical Presetters and offsets are uploaded to a local server. All mill programs are stored and transmitted via a shop-wide DNC and ethernet connection system.
Our CNC Turning Centers support large diameter turning at close tolerances. Extensive resources of tooling, gaging, and quality machines enable us to run at maximum productivity and maintain unmatched quality.
We have turning capabilities from .250″ diameter up to 16.5 inches in diameter. For turning up to 1.625 inches in diameter we can turn up to 27.5 inches long. We can bar feed material up to 3 inch diameter and 12 feet long. Many of our turning centers are set up to run in cellular arrangements. We also have turning centers with live tooling and dual turrets for maximum productivity.
We can turn within .0005″ tolerance and with finishes of 16√. For parts under .0005″ tolerance, we employ our own CNC honing and grinding in-house. All programs are stored and transmitted via a shop-wide DNC and ethernet connection system.
Grinding and Honing
Acutec has the ability to perform precise grinding and honing operations, thanks to its many resources of both CNC and manual grind as well as hone equipment.
- Centerless grinding capabilities of .0001″ total
- Single and Double sided lapping with capabilities of holding flatness and parallelisms of .0001 and finishes of 4√

Acutec has a large EDM (electric discharge machining) department that can be used to meet complex requirements and metal removal on an array of different materials.
- Complex 3D solid modeling and electrode extraction from scratch or using customer supplied model
- Programming and machining of electrodes using 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC mills
- Programming and NC file generation for wire EDMs using customer supplied models
- 3R work holding system utilized on every machine
- All electrodes and fixtures are modular and interchangeable on every machine using the 3R work holding system. This allows parts to be run on any machine without the need for additional setups
Finishing and Marking
Acutec is capable of meeting all customer requirements for finishing and marking and serialization for complete traceability using our proprietary serial number generation and tracking software.
Our deburr lab has microscope deburring capabilities to ensure microfinishes and clean edge breaks for critical surfaces on the most complex manifolds in the industry. A complete electronic work instruction library ensures repeatability and facilitates training.
Ultrasonic wash tanks and a wash line supplement wash tanks at the machining cells with 3D printed holding fixtures mean 100% FOD-free components to customer every time without additional cost.
